M.I.A. - Maya
The stylization of the title (/\/\ /\ Y /\) and the cover art of Maya, M.I.A.’s third studio album, both give accurate representations of the music that you will find inside. All of her efforts seem like a deliberate attempt to make it more difficult to appreciate her work.

Alessi’s Ark - Notes From the Treehouse
Alessi Laurent-Marke is one of those young girls that put some of her folk songs up on MySpace and got handed a record deal. She is also a female singer-songwriter from the British Isles, and, by default, joins the ranks of artists like Laura Marling, Amy Winehouse, Emmy the Great, Adele, Lily Allen, Kate Nash, Duffy and KT Tunstall.

Emmy the Great - First Love
Emmy the Great first showed up on my radar after I watched her in a video on the Brighton Port Authority website, but there’s not much information about her out there in the tubes of the internet. She sings on their song “Seattle,” which has a pretty neat video, but is not particularly good, though the cute Emmy has an equally cute voice.
