My exposure to good electronic music experienced a significant decline sometime at the beginning of the decade, but it seems like things are starting to pick up a bit. Two of the albums on this list are technically good enough to make the main top 10 albums of 2009, but “Electronic” is an important subgenre that should have its own list.

Electronic music used to be a larger facet in my life, but then it began to get too incestuous and uninteresting. This caused an enormous upswing in the amount of girly music and indie rock in my musical diet, but the desire to groove to electronic music has never really gone away. It just seems like there’s less good stuff out there than there used to be.
