V - Hypnosis Unleashed

Hypnosis Unleashed is not the first hypnosis show that I’ve ever attended, but it is the only hypnosis show that I’ve seen in Las Vegas and it was more entertaining than the others by far. The show requires audience participation and, because of the dependence on the audience, there are definitely moments that fall flat, but the hypnotist tries to make the most of each situation. This is frequently funnier than I imagine it would have been if the volunteers were more cooperative hypnotic subjects.
The people on stage were each given individual hypnotic suggestions to do things like: forget their names, lose all but one word in their vocabulary and sneeze when a certain word was spoken…the girls were even convinced to have involuntary orgasms when they heard someone sneeze. One man called his friends back home and left messages to inform them that he would now like to be called “Cindy.” Another guy believed that the bird on his tattoo was flying off his arm to bite him (on the balls!) whenever he saw the hypnotist touch his forehead. If you can’t tell, this is not a show for the easily offended, but now that I think about it, the easily offended could probably add an extra layer of comedy…forget I said anything.
I laughed more during Hypnosis Unleashed than in the last few comedy movies that I’ve seen…possibly more than the last several combined. Which I guess is about right when considering the entertainment-to-cost-divided-by-time ratios. If that doesn’t make sense I will answer some questions for you: Would I go again? Even though I know the basic path of the show, I probably would. Would I decide to be a participant next time? Not a chance. (heh. I’m not comfortable in the spotlight.) I might consider it if I were a girl though.
