Julie Doiron - I Can Wonder What You Did with Your Day

Julie Doiron is a Canadian singer-songwriter and she has been making albums regularly for close to twenty years. Her latest solo release is I Can Wonder What You Did with Your Day and the sound on this one is more electric than acoustic.
I Can Wonder What You Did with Your Day is decidedly hit-and-miss (balanced ever so slightly more in the “hit” direction), and a few of the songs have a crunchy rock sound that is reminiscent of the better stuff from Juliana Hatfield. “Spill Yer Lungs” and “Heavy Snow” are two examples of this and they just happen to be the best songs. There are ten additional tracks on the album, but “Lovers of the World,” “Tailor,” “Consolation Prize,” “Borrowed Minivans,” and “Blue” are the only other ones that work.

Julie Doiron has a light, pretty voice that balances the darker elements in her music and, while minor elements of her songs are similar in some ways to other artists, there’s not really any other stuff quite like this.
