Best Song of October 2009

October boasted a decent number worthy tracks …and a few that were even better than that. The first section consisted of “Watching the Planets” by Flaming Lips, Natalie Imbruglia with “Want,” “Meet Me on the Equinox” from Death Cab for Cutie, “Trippin' At The Disco” by People Under the Stairs, Raveonettes with “Gone Forever,” Air’s “So Light is Her Footfall,” Electric Six with “Waste of Time and Money,” the acoustic version of “Gimme Sympathy” by Metric, Morrissey's “If You Don’t Like Me, Don’t Look At Me” and “On Directing” by Tegan and Sara.
These songs are all really good, but the fun of “Crazy” by Asteroids Galaxy Tour, the slow build-up of Editors with “In This Light and On This Evening” and the somber fervor of “The Rain” by The Swell Season beat them all out. When these three go up against each other, though, the build-up wins. “In This Light and On This Evening” by Editors is the best song of October.
