Las Vegas Critics

About Us

Las Vegas, Nevada, is an amazing, world class city, with multiple 5 star and 5 diamond hotels, incredible restaurants, and shopping to name but a few things it has to offer tourists and locals alike.  One thing that it does not have nearly enough of are people going out of their way to be honest about the different choices there are in our fair city.  In a town where practically every billboard claims that that particular hotel-casino has "the #1 show" or the "show of the year," some trustworthiness and honesty in reviewing is sorely needed to strike some balance.

The Las Vegas Critics site director Christopher Calicott wants to provide, through LasVegasCritics.com, an intelligent, unbiased, honest, and fun review of anything and everything that Las Vegas has to offer.  Along with staff writer Nick Manteris, Christopher will be covering many restaurants and sharing thoughts on hotels, et cetera.  The normal review fare isn't all that's planned to be on offer here, though.  Christopher has spent a good amount of time traveling, learning, tasting, and thinking about wine and spirits and will be doing a large amount of wine and spirits reviewing.  Being sick and tired of meaningless "100 point" ratings systems where there is a strong tendency for critics to give barely-above-average wines the same well-above-average scores again and again, Christopher has developed a new wine scoring system that is based on the three primary characteristics of a wine: the color, the smell, and the taste.  This new wine scoring method is so effective, practical, and easy to use that our readers can easily adopt it themselves, basing their wine scores on real opinions about each of those three basic wine qualities. More about this cool new wine tasting and scoring system is coming shortly...

If all that weren't enough, there's an entire range of retail products that do not get much attention online other than a quick post here or there, so when we run across things that are interesting to us, we will share our thoughts on those products and sometimes give demonstrations.  We're currently working on a video podcast that will contain many of these product reviews but will be primarily dedicated to wine tasting and wine reviews.  So Las Vegas Critics is not just about Las Vegas-specific reviews, though we definitely will have those, to be sure.  Our site is currently about to soft launch for testing purposes and in the coming weeks we will be doing our official site launch, so much more is to come soon.  Please add us to your feed readers and check back with us!
